The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has launched a Web site that highlights various tax breaks and section 529 plan changes designed to help parents and students pay for college. Also available from the IRS are video and audio products to help taxpayers take full advantage of the 2009 tax provisions in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) has posted the updated Financial Aid Night presentation, What You Need to Know about Financial Aid, along with the accompanying slideshow and the draft 2010-11 FOTW Worksheet. Although you have to wait until Jan. 1, 2010 to complete your FAFSA for the 2010/2011 academic year, there are still things you can do now to get started on the financial aid process. You can apply now for a FAFSA PIN which you will need to electronically sign the FAFSA and to access your financial aid records. |
