MDOT installs new emergency signs on US-31Contact: Tim Terry, MDOT - Muskegon Transportation Service Center, 231-777-3451 Agency: Transportation
March 11, 2009 -- The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is installing new emergency signs along US-31 from I-96 north to the Oceana/Mason county line. Similar emergency signs already are in place on US-31 from M-45 in Ottawa County to I-96 in Muskegon County.
"These emergency signs are a necessary part of maintaining motorist safety," explained MDOT Traffic/Permits Engineer Tim Terry. "If an incident was to occur on US-31 and emergency crews had to divert traffic, these new emergency signs will alert motorists and provide a safe and efficient detour."
Installation of the new emergency signs will continue into late spring.
