Notice to Public - Title I, Part A, Carrover Limitation Waiver

Title I, Part A of the No Child left Behind Act requires that Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) obligate 85% of the Title I, Part A funds annually. LEAs may be granted a waiver from this limitation on unobligated Title I, Part A funds by the State only once every three years. More frequent waivers for this purpose may only be granted by the U. S. Department of Education.

On May 13, 2009 the Michigan Department of Education submitted to the U. S. Department of Education (Zollie Stevenson, Jr., Director, Office of Elementary and Secondary Education) a request to allow the Detroit Public schools to exceed the 15% carry over limitation on unobligated Title I, Part A funds more than once every three years. This request is specific to fiscal years 2007-2008 and 2008-2009. The referenced waiver request is attached to this notice. Link to Michigan Department of Education Title I, Part A, Carryover Limitation Waiver
