What's New at the Michigan Women's Commission

• I'm Not Lost Yet Second Annual Michigan Motorcycle Relay for Recovery In celebration of National Drug Court Month, Michigan will host the 2nd Annual Motorcycle Relay for Recovery from May 20 through May 22, 2013. At each stop the Michigan Association of Drug Court Professionals (MADCP) flag will be passed to a new group of riders as a symbol of the collective impact of problem-solving courts. Show your support for veterans courts by cheering on the relay riders (Click "more" for a location list).  Our MWC Commissioner, the Hon. Susan Dobrich, 43rd Circuit Court, is the vice-president of MADCP.  Our Commission recognizes the special importance of such courts for women veterans. "Veterans' courts and other problem-solving courts work to address criminal behavior by treating underlying problems, such as drug addiction, alcohol abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder, and traumatic brain injury. Studies indicate that these programs reduce recidivism and are less costly over the long term than incarceration." http://bit.ly/15Tn6hA

• A Guide to Women's Equal Pay Rights The US Dept. of Labor's Women's Bureau has just released its guide on "Equal Pay A Guide to Women's Equal Pay Rights" in English and Spanish.
