Meet The Chief Deputy Director

Gordon Wenk has worked with the Michigan Department of Agriculture (MDA) for over 30 years and was appointed as Chief Deputy Director in June of 2008. Prior to that, he served as Director of MDA's Environmental Stewardship Division.

As Chief Deputy Director, Gordon has overall administrative management responsibility for all divisions within MDA. These programs include animal health, food safety, environmental issues, plant pest concerns, weights and measures, consumer protection, and marketing opportunities.

Gordon graduated from Michigan State University with B.S. and M.S. degrees in natural resource management and agriculture. He is currently the treasurer of the Williamston School Board; and previously served as president of the National Association of State Conservation Agencies.
