Select Michigan Program Information

Select Michigan Program Logos

All Michigan fresh or processed products are eligible for participation in the Select Michigan Program.

There are two Select Michigan logo categories to choose from:

Great Lakes - Great Tastes:
This logo is used primarily with food items.

Specific Criteria for Fresh Product: Select MI Logo

  • Must be 100% grown in Michigan.

Specific Criteria for Processed Product:

  • The product has at least 51% of its content grown in Michigan or the final processing plant must be located in Michigan.
  • Other than processing aids or spices, no part of the product content will be from outside of the USA.

Tools to Increase Market Exposure:

  • Priority referrals to major Michigan retailers, processors institutional food buyers, restaurants, chefs, organizations and others.
  • Frequent listing in news releases to the media.
  • Press Releases distributed to the general public, funding agencies and others interested in local and organic food.
  • Opportunities to be featured at and sell products at "Select Michigan" sponsored events.
  • In-store tasting and demo opportunities.
  • Your operation listed on http://mimarketmaker.msu.edu/ with a link to your farm site, if applicable.
  • Limited supply of point of purchase materials - price cards, logo stickers, etc.
  • Discounts for product posters with your company or farm logo.
  • Discounts on paid or in-store radio.
  • Free use of the Select Michigan; Great Lakes - Great Tastes Logo.

Educational and Networking Opportunities:

  • Educational workshops as needed.
  • Direct access to experienced producers, retailers, and other industry specialists.
  • Select Michigan E-Newsletter

Great Lakes - Great Earth:
This logo is used primarily with flowers, bedding plants, wood and other non-food agricultural items.

Great Lakes, Great Tastes logoTools to Increase Market Exposure:

  • Frequent listing in news releases to the media.
  • Press Releases distributed to the general public, funding agencies and others interested in Michigan products.

  • Limited supply of point of purchase materials - price cards, logo stickers, etc.
  • Discounts for product posters with your product and company or farm logo.
  • Discounts on paid or in-store radio.
