Michigan Reads!

Welcome to the Michigan Reads! One State, One Children's Book Program. We invite you to take part in Michigan Reads!, a statewide program highlighting the importance of early childhood literacy by focusing on a picture book by a Michigan author.

The Target Bookfest will kick off the 2008 Michigan Reads! program at the Kensington Metropark in Milford, Michigan on August 23, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Also, check out the Mahoney Children's Workshops 2008: Every Child Ready to Read @ Your Library: Exploring the Fun and Facts of Early Childhood Literacy

This program provides an overview of the Every Child Ready to Read @ your library, an early literacy initiative from the Public Library Association and the American Library Association. Attendees will be trained to present workshops designed for caregivers, and to incorporate practical ways of developing a strong role for their libraries in early childhood communities. Participants will learn techniques on how to enhance storytimes by incorporating information for parents/caregivers into them. Join us for a dynamic, interactive workshop experience!
