Introduction
 Adjuster
There are 2 types of adjuster licenses. There is an adjuster for the insured which is an individual allowed by license to contract with and represent insureds who have suffered losses covered by insurance for fire (property) and other hazards (casualty and accident/health). There is also an insurance adjuster that is an individual allowed by license to contract with and represent insurance companies to adjust fire (property) and other hazards (casualty and accident/health) and workers' compensation losses. A staff adjuster (an adjuster who is a salaried employee of an insurance company) does not need to be licensed by the State of Michigan. Persons admitted to the practice of law in Michigan may adjust claims without obtaining a license but cannot represent themselves as licensed adjusters by the State of Michigan. |
